CONLONS Portable Infrared Sauna Tent

3.8

Most portable saunas under £250 are steam tents: a kettle-style generator feeds a vinyl box and your head sticks out of the top. CONLONS takes a different route with three far infrared panels, a heated foot pad and a full-height tent you sit completely inside, for £215.99. That makes it one of the few genuine infrared tents at this price that doesn't leave your head in the cold.

The trade-off is information. CONLONS publishes the temperature, the size and the timer, but not the panel wattage or any testing for electromagnetic fields or material off-gassing, which is where it falls behind the cheaper Runitude we rated 4.4.

How we review

This review draws on CONLONS's Amazon UK listing, our reviews of competing SereneLife and Runitude tents, and peer-reviewed studies on infrared sauna use after exercise. CONLONS has no UK specification page we could verify, so figures come from the listing and we've flagged the gaps.

Who it's for

Anyone who wants regular post-training heat at home without the £1,500 or more that a timber infrared cabin costs, and who has an 80cm square corner to give up. It also suits larger users better than most tents, since the domed top and 80cm footprint give more shoulder room than the narrow boxes around £150.

Skip it if you want the dry 80°C to 90°C blast of a Finnish sauna. At around 60°C, this is a slower, gentler heat, and you'll need 30 minutes or more to get a proper sweat.

Pros

  • Full-body tent, so your head stays in the heat rather than poking out of a collar
  • Three far infrared panels plus a heated foot pad
  • Real air temperature up to about 60°C, set up to 65°C
  • Roomy 80 x 80 x 195cm footprint with a domed top
  • Reinforced folding chair rated to 150kg
  • Remote control and a 60 minute timer, with a double-ended zip

Cons

  • No published panel wattage, EMF readings or material testing
  • Heat escapes fast if you open the zip, so no popping out mid-session
  • Warm-air breathing inside a closed tent feels stuffy for some users
  • Unknown brand with no UK service information

Heat and heat-up time

CONLONS quotes under 10 minutes to warm up. The controller goes to 65°C; the company is candid that actual air temperature peaks at about 60°C because of air movement, and your room temperature matters. A cold garage in January will cost you a few degrees.

That heat is enough to do something. A 2026 study put 12 adults in a far infrared sauna at 65°C for 45 minutes and recorded a 1.4°C rise in core temperature, heart rate climbing from 74 to 153 bpm, and a sweat rate of about 1.4 litres an hour (far infrared sauna at 65°C study). CONLONS runs a little cooler than that, so expect a bit less strain, but it's the same ballpark. Drink water before and after.

Using it after training

The best evidence for this sort of heat is on soreness rather than performance. In a crossover trial with 16 basketball players, 20 minutes in an infrared sauna at about 43°C after heavy strength and plyometric work reduced muscle soreness, improved perceived recovery and limited the drop in jump height the next morning (infrared sauna after resistance training). Our guide to infrared sauna benefits goes through the full research, including the null results.

Practically: shower, get in with a towel on the chair, and aim for 20 minutes at first, building to 30 or 40 over a few weeks. The foot pad is the underrated part, as it warms your feet quickly, which makes the lower temperature feel hotter than it is. Our sauna after workout guide covers timing around lifting days.

Against the alternatives

The Runitude portable sauna at £139.99 is our top pick because it publishes its VOC test results and costs less, though it's a steam tent. The SereneLife infrared sauna tent is the closest like-for-like rival at a similar price, but your head stays outside. CONLONS is the one to choose if you specifically want dry infrared heat around your whole body and more room to sit. Our best home sauna UK guide compares tents, blankets and cabins.

Frequently asked questions

How hot does the CONLONS sauna get?

The controller sets up to 65°C, and CONLONS says the real air temperature inside reaches about 60°C, depending on your room. That's much cooler than an 80°C to 90°C Finnish sauna, but it's in line with infrared cabins and enough to raise your core temperature over a 30 to 45 minute session.

Does your head go inside the CONLONS tent?

Yes. Unlike many cheaper steam tents where your head pokes out of a collar, this is a full-body tent 195cm tall with a domed top, so you sit fully inside. That traps more heat but also means you breathe warm air, so keep sessions shorter at first.

How big is the CONLONS portable sauna?

The listing gives 31.5 x 31.5 x 76.8 inches, which is 80cm x 80cm x 195cm. CONLONS says it fits one large adult or two people of standard build, though two adults on one folding chair isn't realistic; two would need a second seat.

How long does it take to heat up?

CONLONS quotes under 10 minutes. Opening the zip to get in and out lets heat escape, so switch it on, wait, then get in and stay in.

Is an infrared sauna tent safe?

For most healthy adults, yes, with sensible limits: start at 15 to 20 minutes, drink water, skip alcohol and get out if you feel dizzy. A 2026 study found 45 minutes of far infrared at 65°C raised core temperature by 1.4°C and heart rate to about 153 bpm, which is real cardiovascular strain. Speak to your GP first if you're pregnant, have a heart condition or take blood pressure medication.

What is the chair weight limit?

The reinforced folding chair is rated to about 150kg (330lb).
