Viavito is a fairly new brand, with the company being established back in 2015. But look past the youthful exterior and you’ll find some of the biggest and best names in the fitness equipment industry ensuring that Viavito create only the highest quality equipment from their HQ in Middlesex.

The LunaRun folding home treadmill from Viavito – is it worth the money?

The Viavito LunaRun Fold Flat Treadmill is their flagship treadmill and is the very reason that brought Viavito to our attention. Up until fairly recently, we weren’t aware of Viavito and so hadn’t been able to test out any of their machines. Over the last few weeks, we’ve been testing out their LunaRun treadmill to see if it’s really worth the money, or if you can get better values from a lower-cost treadmill. Let’s find out.

Features

It’s not understating to say that the Viavito LunaRun treadmill is packed full of some of the most professional features that can’t be matched outside of a gym at this price range. The treadmill can reach a maximum speed of 10mph (16km/h) powered by its 1.25 hp DC continuous motor, which should be more than enough for even the most experienced of runners.

Packed full of commercial gym-quality features, including 12 workout programmes and 10mph top running speed

This full feature treadmill comes equipped with 12 pre set programmes covering a range of skill levels from beginner to experienced, allowing you to jump straight into a run that suits your needs. These pre set programmes have been designed by a certified personal trainer too, pretty nice!

There are also 7 additional programmes – 3 countdown programmes, 1 body fat program and 3 user-defined programmes, allowing you to create your own and save them for later. All programmes are controlled and set via the blue back lit LCD screen on the front of the running machine.

One feature that is seriously overlooked in most flat folding treadmills is the ability to add an incline to your run – with the LunaRun, it has 10 levels of powered incline (from 1% to a massive 10% incline). The powered incline can be controlled via the incline controls built into the handlebars, allowing you to quickly switch up your run when needed.

The electronically controlled incline reminds us of your standard gym controls – having them on the handlebars means you’re not messing around with the LCD screen trying to find the correct settings.

The bright and clear backlit 5″ LCD display gives you live feedback on the usual metrics you find on most treadmills, namely speed, time, distance and calories burned. From the integrated pulse grip sensors in the handlebars, the backlit 5″ LCD display also provides accurate measurements of your pulse.

Summary of Features

  • Top speed of 10mph
  • Intrgated handlebar controls allowing to to control speed and incline quickly and easily
  • Large LCD display showing speed, distance, calories burned, pulse and incline
  • 19 programmes in total, with 12 workout programmes for all skill levels
  • Speakers for external devices to play music
  • 2 user profiles

Build Quality

An important area to consider on any home treadmill is the build quality. You want it to be sturdy enough to feel strong and secure when running, but not too bulky and heavy to get in the way of your day to day life. What’s more, you want something that’s going to last for a long time and not break after 6 months of use with no warranty.

Sturdy build quality with a comfortable deck whilst running for long periods. Easy to fold and store away when not in use

Fortunately, the Viavito LunaRun is an absolute beast and perfectly blends practicality with sturdiness and quality build.

Once it arrives, the first thing you’ll notice is the set-up – it’s pre assembled in the box and only took us around 15 minutes to be up and running with no finicky bits and pieces to mess with. Pre assembled treadmills are fairly uncommon at this price bracket and they usually require a couple of hours before you’re ready to run, so it’s refreshing to find a company that puts this much effort into customer satisfaction.

It’s not too heavy either – with a weight of around 49kg (~110lbs) it’s definitely possible to set it up with just one person. The treadmill feels strong and sturdy, with no plastic-y feeling parts or dodgy connections. It’s probably as close as you can get to a commercial-quality treadmill at home at this price.

The treadmill has a maximum user weight of 90kg (198.4lbs). Whilst this is fairly low in comparison to other treadmills, the aim of the LunaRun is to bring a gym-quality treadmill to those with limited space and/or want a running machine with a folding mechanism that allows you to store it out of the way when not in use. And it does that very successfully.

The engine that powers the LunaRun is a 1.25 continuous duty motor, meaning it can operate and run indefinitely without any temperature rise outside of the expected range. This makes these motors incredibly reliable and popular with good-quality running machines such as this one.

Viavito LunaRun Folding

The running surface is wider than most home treadmills and feels great underfoot, with plenty of cushioning to make it easy on your joints and reduce impact. The deck surface is 42 x 125cm which makes it a perfect platform for indoor jogging, running and sprinting.

The LunaRun also boasts a couple of water bottle holders and a phone and tablet holder so you can watch your favourite TV shows whilst running. The tablet holder feels pretty secure and we found it kept our tablet in place even whilst sprinting.

When you’re ready to store your running machine, you simply fold it by lifting the deck upwards. It folds flat and can be stored either vertically or horizontally – perfect for underneath the bed, inside a cupboard or similar. At the end of the treadmill are a couple of transportation wheels so you’re not having to lug it around whenever you need to set it up again.

Summary of Build Quality

  • Very high quality components and great build quality
  • Quick set up out of the box
  • Feels strong and sturdy underfoot
  • Comfortable to run on for long periods of time
  • Easy to fold and store under your bed or in a cupboard
  • 2 years parts and labour warranty available from Viavito as of writing this (check their website for details)
