Treadmills are wonderful tools that can help you keep fit and stay in shape. Getting an excellent cardio workout without the need to step outside is a huge reason why many of us decide to get a treadmill.

One such treadmill is the Sportstech F10 Treadmill. If you’re looking for an entry level treadmill that doesn’t take up too much space then you’ll likely be considering the Sportstech F10 treadmill. In purchasing a home treadmill, you must consider a number of aspects: power output, the size of the running surface, as well as ease of use. In all these respects, the Sportstech F10 stands out.

Inside the treadmill

The treadmill is equipped with a range of useful features. Notably, it has a Kinomap + iFitShow App compatible console. Both are apps that you download onto your phone or tablet – with Kinomap, it gives you access to run thousands of locations around the world. The iFitShow app allows you to track your workouts and log them on your phone automatically.

The Sportstech F10 Treadmill also ships with 12 running programs, each with varying difficulty (from beginner level/warm-up to intense).

On top of that, you’ve got a bunch of features that are usually only seen on higher-end treadmills. But are they any good? After testing out the Sportstech F10 Treadmill for 10 weeks, we’ve compiled the best and worst features of this machine below.

Foldable construction

sportstech f10 treadmill review

The Sportstech F10 Treadmill has a fast folding system consisting of a couple of buttons that release the folding mechanism. They were a little bit stiff for us at first, but work well after a few uses. The Sportstech F10 is quick and easy to fold and unfold making it perfect for those with smaller storage space.

The hard wearing frame construction feels sturdy and robust, which is a huge bonus for an entry level machine. We’ve tested plenty of similarly-priced treadmills which had awful build quality, so it’s refreshing to come across a running machine with a solid build and high quality structure.

10km/h maximum speed

The Sportstech F10 Treadmill has a top speed of 6.2mph (10km/h). This is okay and should do the trick for 99% of home users, but there are other treadmills out there in a similar price bracket with much higher top speeds.

If the speed of the treadmill is the most important factor for you, then this could well be a dealbreaker. It would have been nice to see a top speed of 12-15km/h, but for us, it’s a small compromise to be made for a bunch of other useful features.

Quiet motor

An important factor of any home treadmill is the noise level. Fortunately, the F10 has a quiet motor, producing little noise even at full speed.

sportstech f10 benefits

The Sportstech F10 Treadmill produces less noise than similar treadmills we’ve tested, even beating some of the higher-end machines. The majority of the noise is from your feet contacting the running surface.

Automatic Lubrication System

Often overlooked, regularly lubricating your treadmill running surface is an important part of the maintenance of your machine, Not doing so can drastically reduce the lifespan of a treadmill and cause damage to the machine.

This is one of the few entry level treadmills we’ve tested that has an automatic lubrication system. It has a small oil container on the side which you keep topped up with lubricating oil – the treadmill does the rest. With other treadmills, you have to manually lift up the running belt and pour the oil on yourself which is not ideal.

Max user weight of 120kg (18.9 stone)

A good max user weight is a necessity for lots of users, especially those who are looking to lose weight by running in their home gym. This treadmill has a decent user weight of 120kg, or just under 10 stone. This is about average for treadmills of this price range – if you need a treadmill with a higher max user weight, we would recommend the Branx Fitness Elite Runner Pro which has a maximum weight of 160kg (over 25 stone)

Kinomap + iFitShow App

The app compatible multimedia console allows you to connect your phone to the Sportstech F10 Treadmill and use two unique apps – Kinomap and iFitShow.

sportstech f10 kinomap

Kinomap was the standout app for us. By fixing your phone or tablet to the practical tablet holder and loading up the app, you can run across thousands of landscapes and exotic locations from the comfort of your home. It tracks your running speed and other factors, providing a live response to the real terrain on the screen.

It’s also a multiplayer app. If you’re keen to run with others, you can join with friends or other Kinomap users and run alongside them. Alternatively, you can work with a personal fitness coach and follow along with online video events to keep you motivated.

iFitShow is a similar app, but focussed more on the data and metrics and less so on the live running maps. It allows you to track and manage your workout history – great for fitness enthusiasts and those who want to monitor their progress, but possibly overkill for recreational athletes.

Multi layered running surface

If you’re going to be running frequently and for longer periods, you’ll want a treadmill with a comfortable running belt. The running deck on the F10 treadmill is one of the best we’ve come across – with five layers of cushioned support, the running deck is soft on your joints and knees and feels comfortable for both walking and running for long periods of time.

The top layer provides a slip resistant surface and extra side treads to allow you to jump onto the edges of the machine if you need to stop running quickly.

We felt that the running surface is a little bit small (101cm x 35cm). Other models in this price range have running belt widths of up to 40-45cm. It would have been nice to see a width of at least 40cm, but it does the job well.

Is this the perfect entry level treadmill?

In almost all respects, the Sportstech F10 Treadmill (model 2020) is a stand-out entry level treadmill.

The machine provides next generation training via the wireless connection between your phone and the treadmill, which is a rarity amongst similarly priced machines.

It’s an ideal running machine and a great piece of fitness equipment if you’re looking for something that should last you a long time. The features we detailed above were the stars of the show, but that’s not all that this machine has to offer.

Other notable features include:

  • 3 manually adjustable incline levels, providing fixed incline of up to 18 degrees.
  • Pulse belt, providing heart rate monitoring with chest heart rate belt.
  • LCD display providing feedback on your speed, distance, time, calories burned and heart rate. Also includes an integrated tablet holder and 2 bottle holders.

Is the Sportstech F10 good for beginners?

SportsTech has a mobile app control system that instantly differentiates them from its competitors. It has many other qualities that puts it ahead of other beginner treadmills.

Sportstech claims this treadmill can be an ideal treadmill for novice or recreational runners and we are right here with them. With a robust design, a powerful motor, a 10 km/h cruising speed and integrated running programs, the running machine has plenty of functionality that’s ideally suited to those who are looking for a beginner treadmill.

What’s more, it provides enough features to take you further than a beginner, so you’re unlikely to grow out of this machine any time soon.

Similar treadmills

The Confidence Power Trac Pro Treadmill offers a large selection of workout programs, with three levels of incline adjustment. The treadmill can also be a solid and durable device with a maximum user weight of 120 kg. This model is well suited for both beginner and intermediate runners and provides similar functionality to the Sportstech F10 treadmill.

Final thoughts

The Sportstech F10 Treadmill has many interesting and innovative features. It is highly recommended for beginners who are interested in gaining experience on treadmills.

This is an ideal beginner’s treadmill but has enough features to keep you motivated and improving over time. The only big limitation is the top speed, which may not be enough for more confident runners.
